The K 06 “Wuppertal” lidded gondola wagons were built from 1892 to 1913 in a quantity of 6,305 for the state railways, primarily for the KPEV.
These wagons were in use at the DB until the 1960s; two wagons were usually connected as a single unit for accounting reasons.
It was only possible to dispense with them in the DR at the beginning of the 1980s.
The most important area of application was lime and sand transport, including for railway depots.
Towards the end of their operational period, they were also often used as slag or garbage trucks.

Die Klappdeckelwaggons K 06 “Wuppertal” wurde von 1892 bis 1913 in einer Stückzahl von 6305 Exemplaren für die Länderbahnen, vorrangig bei der KPEV, gebaut.
Bei der DB waren diese Wagen bis in die 1960er Jahre im Einsatz, meist wurden zwei Waggons aus Abrechnungsgründen als eine Einheit verbunden.
Bei der DR konnte erst Anfang der 1980er Jahre auf sie verzichtet werden.
Das wichtigste Einsatzgebiet waren Kalk- und Sandtransporte, unter anderem auch für Bahnbetriebswerke.
Gegen Ende ihres Einsatzzeitraums wurden Sie auch häufig als Schlacken- oder Müllwagen benutzt.
