Hand operated goods crane

By BrickBuiltBench

Hand operated cranes were commonplace at smaller stations with goods operations. They allowed workers to load large and heavy cargo onto wagons with less man power. Sometimes they would sit upon platforms and other times they would be mounted in the ground next to the rails.

This model doesn’t represent any specific crane but instead is built to give the general feel of them. The model is also completely operational, including a ratchet system to prevent loads from falling while suspended.
