About the real one:
Between 1951 and 1974, over 400 of the DUEWAG Großraumwagen were produced for many West German cities. A similar number of matching sidecars were also produced.
The vehicle used in the model was procured in 6 units in 1957 for the Mönchengladbach tramway. After the closure of the tramway there, these were sold to Aachen. In 1973, shortly before the entire operation was discontinued, the cars were sold on to Mainz. Car210 was in service there until 1993. It was sold to Aachen in 1994 and erected as a memorial in front of the depot there. After 20 years in the open, the carriage was handed over to Mönchengladbach, restored and placed in a protected location.
Style: Stadtwerke Mainz AG
About the moc:
The model was created in 2018 for a large streetcar diorama based on the Aachen model. Now I have revised the design, reworked some construction techniques, used new parts and, above all, implemented motorization using Circuit Cube.
