Doppelstockwagen “DBpza”

By BigDaedy & DennisAkaTECHNO

About the real one:
This is a model of a contemporary German double-decker passenger coach used extensively for many years on regional train services all across Germany.
Manufacturer was from 1994 onwards the now defunct “DWA/Waggonbau Görlitz” (later Bombardier, now Alstom). The coaches were produced in multiple series each with various sub-classes which differ somewhat in their overall exterior design, but mostly it’s the technical equipment and interior furnishing like seating arrangements and multipurpose compartments that has changed most over the years.
Maximum travel speeds are up to 160 km/h on units fitted with magnetic track brakes and the coaches can be pulled by a variety of locomotives.

Although they’re used almost exclusively by the Deutsche Bahn company, the “DB” in the name isn’t an abbreviation for “Deutsche Bahn”, but rather part of the nomenclature of the UIC classification of railway coaches.

Example:
D = Doubledecker
A = First class seating
B = Second class seating
D = Luggage van

So “DB” means it’s a doubledecker coach with second class seating.

About the moc:
The model is based on the 2018 built legacy “Doppelstockwagen” which is also available for download here on Open-L-Gauge. However since the legacy version is far away from being up-to-date or even anywhere near the 1:45 scale, a newer version alongside a fitting cab-control-car was designed in late 2022 by DennisakaTechno and myself. Since then the model has been updated continuously as new parts became available.

Features include a full fictional interior with seats and detailed bogies with air suspension and magnetic track brakes. Minifigures might be able to fit inside.
Also simply replace some of the white cheese slopes with yellow ones to create a “DABpza” first class coach.

The coach has been extensively put to the test at various events in Germany and the Netherlands. Build your own train along with the “Traxx” or “Vectron” locomotives that are also here on Open-L-Gauge.

This moc is for experienced builders! Read the descriptions!

Custom parts:
– “Hose rigid – 3mm” aka Flex Tubes need to be cut to length
– Miniature Ball Bearings of the “MR-52 ZZ” type

Minimum radius: R104

If you want to upload the .io file to BrickLink as a wanted list, you first need to open the file and remove the custom parts like the wheels and cut hose rigid.

One final note from the creator(s):
Please show respect to the amount of creative effort put into this model. Please do not devalueate our collective work by attempting to commercially use the whole moc, parts or certain distinct design choices for your own benefit. We strongly appeal for everyone to adhere to the rules of Open-L-Gauge to keep this community enjoyable for everyone.

Thanks for your understanding.

Have fun with the model!
